Replacing poorly waterproofed walls and windows became a necessity for this newly "re-built" home, placing a crimp on the budget for this whole house renovation. What remained of years of planning became the highlight of the house for the owners; the master bath. The fabulous, peaceful views of a wooded, private slice of land in Ohio became visible upon opening the bath room windows to the floor and removing an outdated platform tub (including glass block) to be replaced by a free-standing tub and sleek faucets. The client tells me it's like bathing in her own wildlife sanctuary in the morning, being able to see the deer and wild turkeys graze.
This bathroom is all about the contrast of materials...the heated large scale porcelain tile floors to the rough cut stack stone walls to the high gloss glass walls of the shower interior. The honed, leathered granite counter plays off of the lacquered vanity cabinet.
The clients love the clean minimal look of their new space...especially now that they can connect with the nature surrounding them.
