Single family home in Roscoe Village of Chicago. Young, newly married couple purchased a spec home that required some help redesigning and making better sense of the overall space. We moved the kitchen island and changed the countertop to a lighter/white granite and extended it to allow for barstools, adding a much needed casual dining space. We painted the outdated, light wood cabinetry to a classic white, painted the island a warm blue-grey and added crystal hardware and a timeless, yet modern, marble backsplash. We also flipped the furniture layout in the adjacent family room and designed custom shelves for the fireplace. A complimentary grey and blue color palette pulled the space together and created a warm, inviting and relaxing environment to entertain and hang out. In the basement, we upgraded a boring wet bar into a sleek, modern and cozy bar area. This couple enjoys entertaining and showing off their comfy and cool home to all of their family and friends.
