This home in Milford sits high upon a beautiful wooded site. Landforms were brought in to design and build access to a lower-level patio off the future deck. It was essential for our clients to have broad, sturdy steps to walk up and down with their grandchildren. To help keep the natural look, we went with several natural fieldstone walls, carving out plenty of room for planting beds that the homeowners plan to do themselves. From 3-4' down to 2-3' boulders. All downspouts were sleeved underground and daylighted in the woodline to prevent washout. The steps were 4' large format super steppers. They turned out so good that we kept using them to transition from the steps to the concrete walkway. Creating a radius gave them a great look and provided space for more plants. Once the patio was poured, we came back in and installed staw matt to prevent washout. Now everything is clean and green!
