Million Dollar View

This is a high rise condominium in Toronto with an incredible harbour view. I painted the pillar to look like Carrara marble so that the pillar looks like an item of beauty. The faux finish only took one day to complete and looks incredible.

I painted the concrete pillar to look like Carrara marble. The change added glamour and elegance to the living room. This changed a boring pillar into an item of beauty in only one day. Custom pillows, custom drapery, lighting and furniture designed by Christina Van Eyck at Ethan Allen Toronto.

I selected colours from his Persian carpet to ensure that his living room was cohesive. The leather at the top was used for a tufted ottoman. The rustic aviator jacket type leather created a masculine edge to the room while the custom pillows added elegance and movement.

This is the concept board that I created. My client wanted a man's library feel to his high rise condominium. We changed the sofa for a more linear style but we selected the blue fabric with a knotted trim for the valance and most of the fabric for custom pillows.

The key to any room design is a balance between masculine and feminine. I combined the masculine hounds tooth fabric for a custom pillow with the beauty of the floral for a custom pillow. The overall effect create an elegant balanced space even for a masculine man's retreat.

This is the fabric that I selected for the window valance and the trim for the bottom of the valance. I selected the blue line as the Condominium overlooked the lake and harbour and the knotted trim also was a subtle nod to the nautical theme.

I selected the gold velvet for the sofa as it matched perfectly in colour with the Persian carpet that he already had. I wanted a sofa fabric that was elegant but very heavy duty. This velvet is extremely durable with over 50,000 double rubs and will look beautiful for a very long time.
