We did a complete remodel of the kitchen in this 1968 McElroy Contemporary. The existing kitchen was dated and closed off from the dining room. We removed the wall between kitchen and dining and created a wall of storage and integrated refrigerator on one side with walnut panels. The opposing side has matte white cabinets, but a custom ceramic tile backsplash with a stylized cardinal and blue jay to nod to the many wild birds on the property. The colorful appliances from Big Chill further enliven this fun kitchen project. The center island bridges the two sides with a combination of matte white and walnut cabinets, including custom rounded corner open shelving and countertops to facilitate movement around it.
