Modern Kitchen

This kitchen features a large curve peninsula to accommodate entertaining. This peninsula wraps around giving the homeowners more counter space around their new range, large pot drawers and a spice pull. Now they can easily cook and chat at the same time, not to mention the higher eating counter hides any prep mess left over.

One of the challenges with this remodel was the countertop. The beautiful Red Hollywood Granite needed careful templating and installation to make sure the color and veining matched. Creating a waterfall edge across the raised bar needed to be planned for very carefully.

Another challenge was utilizing an unused side entry bump out to store small appliances that we use but like to keep tucked away closely until they are needed. This also turned a great place for pantry storage and their microwave that is slightly hidden but easy to access.

Modern lighting was important to the homeowner who is a lighting hobbyist, and you see this throughout the remodel. LED lighting is under the overhead cabinets to feature the tiled accent wall, and in the lit glass shelves within the cabinets. Lighting is also featured in the peninsula, under the countertop to highlight the eating area. A graphic eye system was installed for pre programmed zones and allows you to pre program ambience by area.

Lastly, was how to access the dining room with those wonderful dishes coming from the kitchen but not to compromise any counter or storage space. The solution was to create an arched opening to the dining room with a small counter overhang. We kept cabinet storage above and below the opening on the kitchen side with large drawers full of dishes for serving and a trash pullout close to the sink for easy clean up.

Now this kitchen with cherry cabinets, glass tile backsplash and Red Hollywood Granite wraps around its cooks but remains open to its guests. The best of both worlds!
