Monte Verde & 5th

Located in Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA on Monte Verde St. & 5th Ave., this remodel was designed by Regan Baker Design, Inc. and was completed in 2011. The removal of a large structural wall and vaulting of the ceiling in the kitchen are helped open up the space. All of the interior finishes have been updated to reflect the subtle beachy style of Carmel.

Off the Entry is the Family Room. The board and batten siding is painted a tan neutral while the trim and ceiling are painted creamy ivory to create an open yet cozy feeling.

In the Dining and Kitchen, we vaulted the ceiling and installed recessed cans with some accent lighting. To further open the space, a large separating wall between the Living Room was removed.

For added interest, the island was painted a darker version of the wall color and was finished with beadboard for a change in texture. The backsplash chosen is a mixture of white 3x6 subway and 4x4 tiles, topped off with shiplap siding.

In the Powder Room, the walls are finished with textured wallpaper. Opposite the pedestal sink is built-in storage above the toilet with starfish hardware.

The board and batten siding in the Master Bedroom is painted with a calming teal color while the trim and beamed ceiling are painted the same creamy ivory that is found throughout the rest of the home.

One of two full Guest Baths, this one features a distressed ivory vanity with under-mount sink, beadboard wainscotting, and limestone tile flooring.

The shower is finished with natural stone tile on the walls and bench and pebble tile on the floor. The distressed ivory vanity with under-mount sink with brushed nickel fixtures and limestone tile flooring complete the room.

The second full Guest Bath channels coastal vibes with pink-coral subway tile and creamy ivories, complete with brushed nickel fixtures and hardware.
