Montecito Tropical
The first time I discovered Montecito, I fell in love. My husband and I moved here over fourteen years ago when my husband's innovation, Spinning®, was at the height of its global success and our Los Angeles life had grown increasingly chaotic. We craved the simplicity of a life vitalized by love, family, friends and a deep reverence for nature - the elements that had originally inspired our fitness enterprise.
I wanted to create a home that embodied the harmony and tranquility of a remote Balinesian retreat; a home that would restore us from within. So I began to pour the heart and soul of our family into every inch of the property; room by room, plant by plant. The details of this home are what make it so beautiful. Custom stonework, bamboo furniture and imported textiles from Africa and French Polynesia provide natural contrasts of color, texture and story. Large French doors and picture windows throughout the home create a seamlessness between indoor spaces and the surrounding rainforest-like grounds. Lush gardens are interspersed with open-air palapas which provide a welcoming space for exercise, meditation and star-studded sleeps.
This home is our oasis. A place to connect, inspire and to let go. A place to gather, cook, play and soak up sun-drenched Santa Barbara afternoons. Our paradise, our sanctuary, our secret garden.
