Driftwood Beach House
Jodi G Designs transformed this Santa Barbara vacation home into an airy coastal getaway, mere steps from the owner’s main house. Jodi’s distinctive designs brought the couple’s dream to life, conjuring a vibrant living space that elegantly showcases the couple’s fine art collection, yet provides the comfort and warmth of a summer home shared with grandchildren.
The existing space was gutted to create a bright, open ambiance that features sweeping coastal views. Jodi G Designs collaborated closely with the couple, hand selecting fabric, artwork and one-of-a-kind furniture to invigorate the space. The couple commissioned artwork by Karen Bezuidenhout, painted glass pieces by Cassandria Blackmore and driftwood furniture by Michael Fleming. The custom dining room table was cut from a solid Suar tree trunk, its ends salvaged and made into end tables for the living room sofa.
The grandchildren’s rooms evoke a sense of play and adventure. Colors, furniture and custom artwork, including pieces adorned with inspirational messages, were selected with each grandchild in mind. Commissioned paintings of the family’s adopted Santa Barbara Zoo animals cheerfully decorate the walls.
The Driftwood Beach House is a welcoming refuge for friends and family, inviting all that cross its threshold to bask in the warm hospitality and vivacious spirit of this amazing family.
