Moreno Residence
This Miami client had fallen in love with a Thai river goddess statue, and wanted to have her entire garden design based off this one piece. I sold her on an "East meets West" theme that would use the lush tropical plants of South Florida but in a restrained, Asian-inspired look. The statue became a focal point in a series of river rock "streams" that weave in and out of plantings. Standard South Florida plants such as crotons, cat palms and Xanadu philodendrons are used in sweeping masses to further enhance the sense of flow. Bamboos and grasses give a strong Asian element, and also provide a wispy textural contrast to the other, more bold tropical leaves.
