A midcentury home in Palo Alto was remodeled to convert to an all-electric modern home. Keeping the original open beam structure, the original walls were reinsulated and windows replaced. The kitchen was relocated to a new-construction extension, the original kitchen converted to a fourth bedroom.
The original garage was converted into a family room, access from the kitchen. A smaller expansion in the front created a breezeway entry, a small office/study and a new garage
All appliances in the home are electric, The roof support a 10kW PV array. Special care was taken to properly insulate and air seal this home, to ensure energy efficiency.
