Net Zero
Apex Mountain Homes, Inc. is proud to showcase what we hope to be Silverthorne’s first NET ZERO ENERGY custom home in Angler Mountain Ranch. It was designed by Boulder Colorado Architect, David A. Beal of David A. Beal and Associates, a leader in the sustainable building movement. This home is Rated G: “G” as in Green- Sustainable.
The sustainable building features and techniques we implemented are a synergistic combination of low tech, old fashioned common sense, along with cutting edge green technologies. This home changes the paradigm of custom homes and sustainability, allowing comfortable living with a very small footprint. The home functions as a sustainable system, encompassing the food grown, the energy conserved, and the message of resource stewardship we send to younger generations.
Features include the attached Mediterranean climate greenhouse and earth sheltered garage roof for growing food. Next, an 8.1 KW solar system generates electricity for the home and the 100% electric car. Plus, electrical usage was further reduced by installing hanging racks in the laundry room instead of a clothes dryer! Last, the home’s design is centered around a Tulikivi, Silverthorne’s first approved, solid fuel masonry heater.
This home defines sustainable building and comfortable custom home living.
