Oasis Community Garden
The Oasis Community garden is a 1.75-Acre urban & food oasis, in the heart of central Ogden. A project of the Junior League of Ogden to combat childhood obesity, the park provides community garden plots, park space, education space, as well as demonstration gardens featuring native and edible plants.
Beginning in 2008, Io completed construction drawings for the initial improvements, including an asphalt path, flagstone paving, lighting, garden sheds, planting, and irrigation. Io has worked directly with both contractors and volunteers to oversee the implementation of the work. Io has also completed subsequent design work and plans for a restroom enclosure (completed in 2011). In 2012 we teamed with architect Steve Simmons to design an education pavilion that included demonstration kitchen, greenhouse, rainwater harvesting and covered gathering space for 100 people. The design has been featured in the Drylands Design exhibition, at the Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles; and locally in the Edible Wasatch Magazine.
