Ormond House Renovation

Re-connection: The existing first floor kitchen of this beautiful Point Breeze home, like that of many Pittsburgh homes, is visually remote from the rest of the house. We have proposed tearing down many of the existing first floor walls and installing an all new kitchen.

The completed project will feature unobstructed views and passage from the kitchen to every first floor room. A new many-windowed study will connect the kitchen to the living room and to the garden. The kitchen itself will now be predominately defined not by its walls but rather by means of a panel-clad ceiling. This project does not shout. The new architecture fits in easily not only with the original Craftsman style architecture; but also with a Modernist Mike Marcu 1960's renovation. We're fortunate to have worked with skilled Pittsburgh contractor and friend-of-the-owner, John Cummings.
