The couple moving into this house made the Laundry Room a priority. It is the first room you see when you enter the house from the garage. The room needed to have 2 functions, Laundry and Wine Storage. Custom cabinetry was fabricated to encase some HVAC duct work over the washer dryer area as well as providing concealed storage. The cabinets were lifted to make the flat surfaces on the washer/dryer and the sink spaces more usable. At the far end of the room sliding closet doors were installed to conceal water heaters and a furnace. The four sliding doors can be moved to create a four foot opening in any area for serving the equipment or they are easily removed from the track to have access the whole space. Wine storage was achieved by adding 3 wine coolers topped with a counter and adding open cabinetry above for more decorative storage. At the end of the project a light kit and shade was added decorative decanter bottle to make a fun lamp. The room now serves as a clean, comfortable place for laundry and is nice enough to use the wine area as a bar for informal parties.
