Pinecrest
This project was a full-blown renovation that included gutting the interior, adding over 1,000 square feet of living space, building an outdoor oasis, and completely changing the facade by adding a new entrance with a pivot door. This house is a product of the Architect and the Owner in alignment as to what was needed and desired. The Owner made it clear from the start that the house was to be transformed into a fusion of Frank Lloyd Wright's organic style brought to the present with modern vocabulary and feel. In addition, it was important to establish a visual connection through the house to the large back yard and pool both from the entrance and from the new Master Bedroom towards an oasis set at a 45-degree angle from the bed. It was important to have transitional spaces that could flow seamlessly form indoor to outdoor living.
The main living space was to be fully open with no wall between the Foyer, Kitchen, Family and Dining rooms while preserving their individual definitions. This was accomplished by establishing a horizontal continuity at the fascia and cascading steps and by inserting a 30-foot truss to raise the ceiling height through the middle of the house. Lighting and carefully chosen materials compliment and accentuate the concept. We used a new adaptive Lutron lighting system to set moods depending on the time of day or for special hosting occasions. The house was decorated with contrasting wood and natural stone tones to accentuate and give warmth to the modern design. The spa was built in a concrete cast designed to have a 360-degree infinity edge with a midnight blue diamond bright finish to give off a false appearance of depth.
The master bedroom includes a hidden 55” inch TV that automatically rises from the floor when turned on and retracts when turned off to avoid obstruction of the outdoor floor to ceiling views of the backyard oasis.
