Poole Renovation
Located on an iconic ravine bordering property, this home has often been studied, considered an exceptional example of West Coast inspired 60’s modern design. Because of this, extreme care was required to maintain the home’s integrity while approaching modernization, efficiency upgrades, and adding additional space.
Vast views of the private natural surroundings of the home are available in every room through the replaced premium tilt and turn operating windows and doors, substantially improving reduction in winter heat loss and summer heat gain.
Colour schemes were updated in bathrooms through wall tile and fixtures replacements, but maintained when flooring was renewed from outdated thick wool carpet to contemporary seamless white concrete.
A second storey was added above the main entry to fulfill the need for more bedrooms, seamlessly preserving proportion, features, and finishings. Exterior decks, canopied by the unique roof detail, invite outdoor access to appreciate the spectacular views.
Kitchen layout was modified to reflect client lifestyle and modern appliances, while adding creative folding door links to Pantry and Dining Room spaces.
The custom metal staircase, complete with polished stainless steel open treads, suspended from vertical cable lines replaced a carpet wrapped wood stair.
Extensive mechanical system change, drastically reducing energy usage.
Alternative energy systems utilized in both living and pool areas. Geothermal heating and cooling system is utilized to control house temperature and supply hot water, while solar collector panels provide heating for the indoor swimming pool.
