The biggest hurdle to meeting the goals and objectives was the requirement to stay within the existing footprint of the kitchen. Working hand-in-hand with our cabinet designer, we developed a plan that would not only maximize the cabinet space, but also the overall space of the kitchen. Among the space maximizing features are: full ceiling– height cabinets, a pantry with 4 roll-out shelves, a roll-out trash and recycle center and finally adding over a foot to each bank of cabinets. Relocating the refrigerator from the center of the kitchen towards the outside wall gave the whole space a much more open feel. Once of the windows was replaced with a full-lite door to add tons of natural light and also provided more convenient access to the newly expanded deck. All of the switches and outlets were moved out of the back splash to give the new glass subway backsplash a clean and interrupted look. Under-cabinet lighting and multiple outlets we installed under each of the four upper cabinet banks to provide plenty of task lighting and plugs.

The final result of this remodel is a beautiful and functional kitchen that the clients are totally in love with and enjoy every day. With some help from our vendor partners and some careful selections, we were able to provide very attractive and high quality materials while sticking very close to the client’s original budget. Since the clients are avid cooks, we were careful to help them make selections that were easy to clean and maintain. The granite counters, glass tile backsplash and oak hardwood floors are all easy to wipe clean, while the GE Slate appliances provide a modern feel while not collecting fingerprints like stainless steel. Finally, the large Blanco SILGRANIT single bowl sink is perfect for large pots and pans while resisting scratches, stains and chips. We are confident this beautiful new kitchen will give our clients many years of enjoyment with very low maintenance.
