Pridgen First Floor Remodel
Victoria Renovations completed this Kitchen and first floor makeover for the Pridgen family of Marietta. The existing kitchen was small and did not provide a lot of counter space for food prep. We developed a plan to remove the separating wall between the kitchen and rarely used dining room and relocated the kitchen to use both of these spaces. We opened the stair wall in the entry foyer to create a more open connected floor plan seen in new home designs and removed the wall between the existing sunroom and the new kitchen space. To make the space appear more like one large existing area we removed the tile from the old sun room addition, raised the floors to match the existing house and ran the hardwood floors through that area. This allowed part of the sunroom to become a casual dining area. In looking at the photos below it can be difficult to understand the existing and new layout as it was such a radical transformation. Rob, Kara and their two daughters now enjoy a much more practical space for their busy life and their neighbors with similar layouts still ask how they managed to get so much space out of the original 1980’s floor plan.
