Quilchena Park Residence

This home near Vancouver's leafy Quilchena Park shows how an astonishing metamorphosis can be achieved through a relatively simple makeover. Carefully proportioned new windows and trims, a new columned front porch, and a sophisticated colour scheme have given new life to this dated 1960's home. Rather than adding square footage, a clever reorganization of interior spaces facilitated by the relocation of the staircase to a new location took a tight, compartmentalized layout and converted it into a free flowing, open and bright succession of spaces. This reorientation allowed for the creation of a new "great room" with an open kitchen, breakfast nook and family room. The upper floor undertook a similar transformation, especially within the street facing dormers that previously had cramped bedrooms pushed into them. They now feature charming master ensuite and walk-in closet spaces with custom fitted millwork complete with lavish fixtures. The reimaging of this residence and grounds was completed with the addition of a new cottage style garage.
