In this midcentury remodel, we opened up the main living space, removed walls between the kitchen, dining room and vaulted the living room ceiling creating a better flow and a stronger connection to the yard. The living room was opened up to the backyard with a 24' multi-slide patio door. The kitchen was opened up by removing a few walls and a small, not so cooking friendly, kitchen creating a stronger connection to the side yard with large bifolding doors. A window seat was boxed out the side of the kitchen to create a cozy spot to read and work at a small built in desk. The brick fireplace was clad in walnut panels that wraps the side creating built in storage. At the entry we designed a custom walnut entry door with concealed hinges and integral walnut side lite. For the kids and the cat to lounge and play a small sitting room was created off the living room with telescoping pocketing walnut doors. The house is warm, inviting and perfect for this young family.
