We primarily use Eastern Red Cedar for its appearance, durability, and sustainable sourcing. Unfinished lumber ages to a silvery grey. Mineral oil finish darkens to a rich burgundy. Shou Sugi Ban, a Japanese technique for preserving wood, especially cedar, by charring the surface; results in a textured black appearance.
