Ranch Reinvention

Expansion and Renovation of a typical ranch house.

The expanded home has layered gables that break up the long mass of the house. sloped soffits, projected gable vents, and varying heights of stone give it curb appeal.

A new front porch was added to provide a sense of arrival to the house.

The kitchen was expanded, the ceiling raised, and outfitted with all new appliances and cabinetry.

A new family room, two new porches, and an angled master suite wing were added at the rear of the house to wrap around the existing pool.

Throughout the house, we added details like this high wainscoting in the foyer, and the thickened cased openings with paneled pilasters are repeated in multiple locations.

The newly expanded master suite features a double tray ceiling, morning kitchen, window seat, and a wall of windows overlooking the pool.

The master bath was designed to maximize storage. The back to back sinks are in an island in the center of the bath, while a built in vanity and linen cabinets flank each side.

Upgraded Foyer
The original family was converted to this fun kids playroom and study. Built-ins provide space for computers, and the existing fireplace was refaced with stone and trimwork to make it a focal point.

Before the renovation, the house was a linear "box". A new porch, and various sizes of gables break up the long mass of the house. A mix of materials adds visual interest.
