This was a very fun project - The Clients are retired and love vintage Americana. The theme through out the home is Red, White & Blue. The kitchen layout worked great and the cabinets are solid wood so there was no need to tear out the cabinets. We added crown molding detail at the top of the cabinets, we added a light valance detail at the base of the upper cabinets. We added under cabinet lighting and plug mold strips under the upper cabinets - this alleviates the plugs in the backsplash. The perimeter cabinets were painted a custom crisp white. The Island was very basic and boring. We updated the island by adding legs and paneling detail on three sides to dress up the piece. The island was painted in a custom black lacquer. We added beautiful brushed nickel hardware to all the cabinets from Restoration Hardware. The cabinets are topped by Carrara Marble and the backs plash is a combination of white beveled statuary marble subway tile, marble mosaics inset, black negro marble custom cut in a diamond shape and black negro marble chair rail and pencil liner. The design created a picture frame for the custom mosaic.
