The owners of the house had a steep slope at the rear and side of the property that made it difficult to use. A retaining wall was designed to raise the grade to provide a level lawn area. The rear patio was designed to provide a small display area for the owner's extensive bonsai collection. A built in masonry grill unit was incorporated into a small nook off the patio.
