This rural farmhouse-style home initially featured a traditional, lackluster front foundation planting, a wide swath of lawn with no path to the front door. We replaced the foundation planting with a simple row of hydrangea and boxwood in front, and built a heated bluestone walkway and steps that lead to the front door. But the most unique aspect of the redesign is the quaint, pea-gravel garden created as a transition from the driveway to the front foundation; we love the way it separates, yet subtly defines, the space.
