Reston Transitional
Our clients moved into this house early 2016 and were ready to transfer their space. The kitchen was enclosed box with outdated cabinets, ineffective layout and a very low ceiling that make the space feel more like a cave then a kitchen. After consulting with HVAC professionals we found out that the duct work could be moved higher into the ceiling. After removing the soffit, opening the wall to the dining room, upgrade the electric box, and shrinking the utility room, we were finally able to layout a new functional kitchen. The space not only turned user friendly, but also open to the dining area/ family room, creating a large open space where they cook, eat and host and be connected while doing so. We kept the brick wall as a feature wall for the family room, and transferred the brick style into the floor and backsplash. The dark colors were selected to create a contemporary yet transitional look to the kitchen. Adding some glass doors for display of some beautiful glass pieces the couple owned.
