River Oaks

From the folks at QuarterLab Design build was this new build mid century house in north Austin. We were fortunate to build out the cabinetry for two bathrooms, the kitchen cabinetry and a 13' office built-in desk. Additionally, we fabricated living room furniture that included the walnut end table, the nesting coffee table, rosewood modular shelving and the TV console.

The Kitchen cabinetry and floating shelves were fabricated in natural walnut. The uppers have a pop of white painted fronts with sliding doors having a round cutout integrated pulls. One stand out feature at the end of the wall cabinets is a drink fridge with an end cape of rounded corner open shelves for barware. The flat panel doors and drawer fronts keep this kitchen looking modern with a nod to mid century.

The Guest bath was all new fabricated vanity with an upper cabinet and floating shelf above the toilet. Just like the kitchen cabinets, these were fabricated in walnut. The vanity were painted white (in our professional spray room) to match the kitchen uppers.

In the Primary Bathroom, we fabricated the Linen Closet in walnut but did a little something different for the vanity. Our client asked if it was possible to take a vintage credenza and up-cycle it to the new primary bath vanity. we removed the top of the credenza (it was severely damaged) and set the new countertop directly on top. the original drawers had wooden slides that were prone to binding when operating the drawers. We decided to replace the drawer boxes (keeping the drawer fronts) and adding Blum drawer slides. The new drawers operate smooth as butter and we kept that vintage look.

Lastly, in the office, we were going to use a rift sawn white oak but our client noticed these off sheets of flat cut white oak with prominent cathedrals in the grain. the idea was to lay out the grain horizontally to create this flame effect. It turned out brilliant.

This dreamy mid century home is a gem in our portfolio and we are so grateful for the opportunity to work on it!
