Rivers End Red

Project Dates: 2015-2017
Budget: $1,000,000+

Slung long and low on the site the two story house greets you with a strong but unassuming presence. Horizontal wood grain stained in a subtle rusty red melds the house into the landscape and brings it forward visually. An all glass entry welcomes you as you come up the walk. A hand made undyed wool rug, chosen by the interior design team at Hunter and Company, makes the entry cozy. The foyer was designed with a strategically placed art wall to keep you in suspense of the view that waits just around the corner.

The floors, interior doors, and cabinets all have the same warm and neutral tone, creating a clean pallet for furnishings as well as keeping the focus on the stunning lake view. Bright pops of red were added to the exterior to draw the eye out and serves to tie the color of the house into the landscape even further. Red adirondack chairs, one of the only real requests for furniture by the homeowner, surround the outdoor fire pit, and a playful rug in the outdoor living area tie it all together. The lines between the interior and exterior are blurred by gorgeous walls of glass. Sliding doors in place of windows helps extend interior living and dining areas outside, with the floors and ceiling both on the same plane.
