Perched gently above the rushing waters of Castle Creek and nestled into a wooded hillside, this riverside retreat is a masterclass in stillness. Originally designed by the architects at Studio B, the home was thoughtfully updated by our Boulder interior design studio to reflect our East Coast clients’ desire for a deeply personal sanctuary, one that captures Aspen’s seasonal magic while offering space for rest, family connection, and calm.

From the moment you enter, intention and serenity set the tone. A Japanese temple bell welcomes you, its soft chime an echo of the home’s guiding word: calm. Water flows through the design, both literally and metaphorically, appearing in expressive oil paintings of streams, the glimmering pool at the heart of the home, and in the ever-present soundtrack of the river below.

Every detail is considered to create a harmonious, sensory-rich environment. Natural, non-toxic materials, such as soft wool, organic linen, nubby alpaca, and textural silk, form the tactile foundation of the space. Earthy tones anchor each room, complemented by vintage furnishings, hand-thrown ceramics, and an art collection that honors both regional and national artists.

The result is a contemporary home that feels grounded and timeless. Spacious yet intimate, refined yet relaxed, this retreat offers a deeply personal experience of peace, one that allows for stillness, flow, and a return to what matters most.
