This rug is woven in Romania from yarn, spun and dyed, using natural dyes, in Turkey. One distinct feature is that it is woven on a wool foundation, rather than cotton as is usually the case in most new production. This production was active in the first decade of the 21st century but has been discontinued, hwever, we have many rugs in inventory with a simlar style, and of course, we can have custom rugs made as well.

The design is based on NW Persian Bijar rugs, which often used bold large scale designs. The curved design elements, known as arabesques, are commonly found, in a much smaller scale and more elaborate form, in fine formal Persian rugs, such as those from Tabriz.
