San Filipo Driveway
The San Filipo residence was designed as a 6k s.f. home in Saratoga Calif.
To meet municipal code conditions, (there is a small seasonal creek behind and below the residence), permeable pavers were put in the driveway specification.
Appx. 6K s.f. of SF Rima was installed to prevent runoff into the seasonal creek behind the proposed home. An additional benefit was achieved with the permeable pavers provided both air and water to the roots of a heritage oak tree at the front of the property.
Concrete curbs and bond beams were installed to provide edge restraint. Concrete bands were also used to transition from the permeable driveway to the Asphalt roadway.
A geotextile fabric was installed over the native soil, then Appx. 8” of ASTM 57 base was installed as a base layer. A 1” bedding layer of ASTM #8 crushed washed rock was installed prior to installing the pavers, and the same # 8 rock was used for the joint fill.
The base design was for full exfiltration.
The project was completed in 2005
