SANCHEZ ST.
Dating back to around 1885, this Italianate-style home along Sanchez Street is classified as a Class A historic resource by San Francisco. While the original facade and front parlors retained their historic allure, extensive modifications have occurred over time.
Our clients, avid Wes Anderson enthusiasts, were enamored with the home's charm but found its 930 square feet, two bedrooms, one bath, and tiny kitchen impractical for their family. They aimed to add a new level and excavate the ground floor.
Despite the challenges of renovating a pre-1906 earthquake home, we seamlessly integrated modern elements while preserving historic features. Securing approval for the expansion, we transformed the space into a 2600 square foot residence with a new rental unit, modern amenities, and outdoor entertaining areas.
Maximizing natural light and circulation throughout the home was a key focus, alongside accommodating future elevator installation for the clients' long-term residency plans.
