A new 2000 s.f., multi-level custom vacation home designed for newlyweds!. The heavily wooded property is located in the world renown town of The Sea Ranch. The Sea Ranch is well known for its "mineshaft" architecture meant to blend into the environment, aging over time into a simile of rock outcroppings on a bluff. When I began the design process, I started with a Saltbox shape. This defined the basic shape against the trees and along the steep slope. I then added simple shapes and components to accent, step, and reduce the scale of the home to grade. The lines of the home point upward with intriguing outlooks and vista points along the journey from one level to the next. The home has many windows and is flooded with light on every level. At the top level there is a peek a boo view of the ocean beyond the trees.
