Shift Vacation Rentals- High Gear

We designed the space as a vacation rental, so we wanted an inviting, open, comfortable space where family and friends could easily be together. A modern layout combined with relaxed, artistic, and unique interior design makes this boutique rental incredible. The original early 1900's house was a 2 bedroom - 1 bathroom. We jacked up the house and rebuilt the foundation enabling us to put a second apartment in the garden view level.

We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room, to open up the space. Adding a lofted ceiling gives a large, expansive, and vacation feel!

The built in window seat was a great way to add more seating but not take up floor space. The Yolocolorhouse leaf.01 ceiling was a fun way to add warmth and cheer to the living room.

The outdoor picnic table was built by reusing the decking we replaced on another job site. Sanding and painting it give it another life as a table and bench. The hive all children and adults love to play in!

Used drop bike handle bars, purchased from a bike shop down the street, make a great coat holder!

We wanted to add some fun for the feature light fixture, and came up with suspending these two tricycles from cable!

We used the off cuts from a wine storage cabinet we made as an art piece. It ties in nice as we painted the rounds the same color as the walls.

The house was lifted to add a second apartment in the basement. The old vinyl siding was removed and underneath the original siding looked great after some repairs and a fresh coat of paint.

The side yard is used for a outdoor seating and playing area. The picnic table was made out of reclaimed wood that used to be a deck. The teeter tooter is made from bike seats and handlebars. And corn hole (the red board) is hours of fun for all!

The teeter tooter was made with old bicycle parts (handle bars and seats). Old tires are used as the stops and kids love playing on this structure!

The attic was not used as living space. We put a staircase up, added spray foam insulation, framed a room and bathroom, and finished it off with cork flooring, a sweet window seat, and custom made bed frame.

This attic bathroom was a bit tricky to get the proper head height. A corner toilet helped with that, and the rain shower head was modified with an arched arm. The niche mirrors the skylight above.

We wanted the entry to be inviting, so we came up with a message for our guests on the risers. The treads were made from old lumber from the house that we milled and glued into planks. The best part is our Dutch family flew over and this entry was their baby! Makes me think of them when I walk up...
