Sleeve House
Oriented to capture views of surrounding mountain ranges, Sleeve House consists of two elongated volumes—a smaller inner volume sleeved into a larger one. Sleeving the two volumes creates two distinct types of interior space: first, between the inner and outer volumes, and second within the inner volume. The spaces in the first, larger space are the more public rooms of the house: living, dining and kitchen. These spaces are on a grander scale, with very high ceilings and large windows including a 25’ high sloping glass wall in the living room. Smaller secondary windows are oriented east-west and screened by louvers, created by the wood siding, to mitigate solar gain. Project features Zola Windows' Thermo Clad™ and Thermo Alu75™ lines. Home is designed by actual / office and built by Lorne Dawes Construction. Photography by Michael Moran/OTTO Archive
