Smith Ensuite, Burlington ON
Before - This small ensuite was in need of updating. The shower bench was too large for the room, taking up valuable floor space. The swing of the shower door blocked the entrance to the room. The shower was in need of water proofing to eradicate the mold. A standard builder box vanity, with off centre sink, did not use the alcove to its full potential.
Eliminating the shower bench opened up the flooring area increasing the feel of this once cramped space. This change also allowed the entrance door to the shower to be relocated, clearing the entrance area. Removing the wall paneling below the window allowed for the wall colour to be continued around the bathroom. By eliminating the heavy paneling, the eye can now move more freely through the room giving the illusion of a larger, more cohesive space.
Choosing a marble mosaic tile for the floor that is continued through to the shower base helped to remove any visual breaks, giving you the impression that the floor space in the ensuite is larger than in actuality. A custom vanity in ‘Smoke Gray’ paint finish maximized the use of the vanity alcove. Installing drawers and rollouts allows the client more organization in this small ensuite. Installing a wall to wall custom mirror also gives the illusion of more space in the recess and reflects light throughout the ensuite. Hansgrohe Axor Montreaux fixtures add are timeless and chic.
