This house went from dated 80's with a sunken living room surrounded by a banister, to sophisticated, luxurious beach living. A wall was erected between the living and family rooms. We kept the sunken living room only we added two steps that span the length of the room and removed the banister. The wall to the dining room was removed to create a beautiful flow from the dining room through the foyer into the living room. The kitchen was completely reworked and redesigned with an island with plenty of storage and workspace. To create the beach feel we chose blue grey on the walls and island, sand tones for the furniture and fireplace surround. Dark espresso in the kitchen and dark blue accents on chairs bring in sophistication, while the iridescent mosaic tile and soft gray subway tile in the kitchen keep the serene beach feel consistent. A lovely transformation.
