Spacious Serene Spa - Glen Ellyn, IL
The homeowners came to us with the following goal: to transform a drab ‘90s era bath into a luxurious, light-filled space that would be a place for her to relax and for him to prepare for work in the morning. She wanted a beautiful spa feel and he wanted to be able to successfully dry his towels and watch the stock ticker in the morning.
We provided the following solutions to give the homeowners the space they were dreaming of:
- A large, freestanding soaking tub for relaxing becomes a beautiful focal point upon entering the large bath,
- A wall in the hallway outside the bath was relocated and double French doors were installed and centered on an existing window. The French doors open into the master suite and lend architectural detail and a feeling of spaciousness to the bath. Privacy concerns were addressed by allocating space for a separate water closet.
- Symmetry is a theme in the design and was achieved by placing two vanities along one wall and symmetrical storage on either side of the tub along with identical framed mirrors. The mirrors provide architectural detail, function, and allow light to bounce throughout the space.
- Wall-mounted faucets and a marble-topped ledge add interest and additional countertop storage at the sink wall. Open vanity cabinets keep the room feeling airy, light and interesting.
- Two new windows were added to allow light into the space – one at the sink wall and one in the separate water closet to keep this room from feeling too closed off.
- Many luxury touches were added throughout the space. Such as a large shower with rain head and additional shower head on a slide bar, a decorative shampoo niche and a footrest in the shower, a frameless glass shower doors allow light to flow into the shower from the rest of the room, heated floors and upgraded fans with halogen lighting, and a wall-mounted LCD TV
An ethereal gray-blue theme runs throughout the bath. Dark espresso birch cabinets with a shaker door, limestone flooring and marble countertops all reflect the client’s desire for a luxury spa feel. A 70’s inspired accent tile in the shower lends an element of fun and is very much in keeping with the homeowner’s unique personal style.
