The clients approached WSM Craft with an elusive idea for a distinctive, multi-leveled outdoor living space that would involve a hot tub, and the future installation of a swim spa beneath it. The design evolved around three distinct spaces on the upper deck; the central gathering area, the grill area, and the hot tub, as well the ground level beneath the deck. Taking cues form the layout of the property, the transition between the deck and the yard became an important consideration. The resulting staircase became the most distinctive feature in the design, lending a modern edge to the Craftsman style of the house.
