Structural steel and fortress evolutions steel framing. The deck is engineered so that the bottom right cantilever of the octagon supports the cantilevered top left corner of main deck . This eliminates a post and allows for a clear walkway under the house.

We were fortunate to be able to use a skid steer to help set both the light gauge and structural steel. The joists over the garage go back into the house 12 feet to allow for the 6 foot cantilever in front of the master bedroom.

The strength of steel allows this to be possible. There is nearly 500 square feet of deck "floating" between the support beams. The pergola is bolted directly into the steel frame leaving the space underneath open. The outer joists are up to 30 feet in length without a splice.

The arc of the deck, the steel rim track spans the entire length of the arc eliminating seams. The structural steel has been primed white.
