Stone Retaining Wall and Stair, Dry Laid. Stone was reused from the original wall, which was uneven and failing. Additional stone took great effort to source; quarries for the existing stone have long closed. An historic aesthetic was crucial. Garden proper was built in 2018; wall rebuilt in 2019.

Mid-construction image of two patios, really, with a stone 'throat' connecting them. Owners are retired archaeologists; details suggest forms and patterns of subterranean mystery.
Stone Patio In Progress
Under construction. Just a narrow path linking front and back gardens using salvaged sandstone pieces. Stones are selected and grouped for fit; no cutting involved. Even the utilitarian can be expressive.
