The first program requirement for this project was to add a private spa tub. The client wanted the tub for health reasons to ease the pain of arthritis. That thought in mind, it was decide to add this private spa room to the Master bedroom/ bathroom area. The existing bath was converted to a large walk-in closet.

The closet area was demolished, added to and became part of the redesigned master bath. All areas were to be assessable by wheel chair so the client could age in place.
The Vanity is designed for future wheel chair access. The lower section of the vanity is designed at accessible height for a person in a wheel chair. The cabinet doors are easily removable and the cabinet bottom is designed to lift out. These easy changes allow for a person in a wheel chair to roll up under the lavatory. The client plans on staying in the house for the rest of her life and wanted the new master bath to be designed for the potential of her using a wheel chair.
An open concept roll-in shower with a seat and hand shower is functional now and can easily be used with a wheel chair or walker. Ample space is provided around the toilet to allow a person in a wheel chair to access it easily.
