On the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, a charming home underwent a remarkable transformation, with its kitchen taking center stage.

Once walled in on three sides with a lower soffit on the other, this kitchen underwent a dramatic metamorphosis to become open and inviting, making a perfect haven for family gatherings and celebrations. Walls were torn down, rooms were rearranged, and exquisite elements were meticulously incorporated to breathe new life into the heart of the home. What emerged was nothing short of spectacular – a seamless blend of functionality, elegance, and warmth. The mesmerizing marble countertops were selected by the couple during a trip to California. And to complement these luxurious slabs, we used oak to carve out highly customized cabinetry and well thought out storage. Stunning blue zellige tiles from Zia Tile serve as a nod to the lake itself, with their varying shades of blue reminiscent of the ever-changing hues of Lake Superior’s waters. Like the surface of the lake on a clear day, these handcrafted tiles shimmer and gleam, infusing the kitchen with a sense of depth and movement that echoes the ebb and flow of the nearby waves.
