Our main points of concern with this kitchen were to conceal the large HVAC duct that ran across the length of the room's ceiling and to match the flooring transition with a coordinating millwork transition. We chose to encase the HVAC with textured wood grain melamine to mimic a rustic wood beam and we could not be happier with the result. We like to use products in a way that they are not typically used to really boost our designs. We also wanted to extend this kitchen into the dining space while still adhering to the flooring differences. We decided that a modern servery would suit this space perfectly. We also added other modern details like the frosted glass doors, linear grained island cabinets and top hinged upper cabinets to fully transform this space.
