Tech Built Homes, a precursor to Deck Houses, are found throughout New England. This one, northwest of Boston, remained largely as it had been built until the new owners infused new life and openness. Windows were replaced with mahogany ones true to the original style, siding redone, and various spaces were pushed out to add function, light, and openness. The old screen porch was really no more than a linear hallway, but now serves as an outdoor room in its own right. The entry is now a welcoming focal point as one approaches the house -- previously a door opening directly in front of the stairs. Most importantly, an interior wall was removed to open up the kitchen to the existing family room as well as a new dining space. Stay tuned for finished landscape!
