The Cheerio was the original name for the historic structure which became dilapidated after being abandoned for many years. The project restores the original masonry with tuck pointing, new lintels and a modernized version of the five retail storefronts occupying the first level. The new design seamlessly blends modern detailing with the existing historic context. The second floor studio style apartments are design to optimize efficiency and create a feeling of openness with pocketing doors, ample storage and features like a flush marble shower with glass partition. Maple is reclaimed and sourced for floors counter-tops, wall base, window and door trim.
