It’s fun to imagine the famed comedian Jerry Lewis and his Rat Pack pals holding court over martinis in this Deepwell home. However, the 1958-built house was in a sorry state of Spanish/Tudor hodge-podge when we took on the project to re-invigorate the property with its mid-century roots while meeting the demands of modern living.

A prime goal was to re-orient the home in order to capture the property’s spectacular views and to expand the outdoor living spaces. A new modernist-themed master suite addition was built into the backyard to shape an entirely new landscape embracing access to the pool and patios. Large stacking sliders were expanded to allow for an easy flow between the indoor/outdoor spaces.

To further the imprint of the whimsy of the time, iconic fun elements like the orange “wishbone” columns supporting the triangulated patio overhang were constructed, almost as if it were a 50”s drive-in. The cantilevered front overhang was enlarged in steel to reflect the excitement of the early “Jetson” Age.
