The Pearl Show House
With this project, I was commissioned by interior designer Catherine Weinstock to do a re-shoot of a tricky little room. The rest of the residence had been previously photographed, but the last room, a "study" or small office, was shot at a different time by someone other than the photographer the designer initially used. The original photograph taken was, for whatever reason, shot at night. Add to that the fact that there was a construction environment immediately outside of the windows, so the windows had been blacked out (?). Obviously, not a usable photo.
I received the rendering and photo from the designer, and a date was planned to get out and shoot the room. There was, in fact a large construction site outside the window, so I knew it would require doing separate exterior shots that would need to be inserted in post production. I also wanted to make sure that my photos would blend in seamlessly with the primary photographers images of the rest of the property. Add to that the difficult task of shooting a room that was rather narrow and small in size. I knew it would be a challenge, but I think I was able to achieve excellent results. Catherine was pleased and now has images that she can add to the rest of that property's design portfolio.
