This Changes Everything!

For this complete exterior remodel of an existing 1947 era house in the Sharp Park neighborhood of Pacifica, we kept the interior mostly untouched, but changed everything on the exterior. The original house was a rustic stucco home with a mishmash of window styles and sizes and a pitched roof with projecting eaves and exposed rafters. Our client came to us because she admired our other modern exteriors and wanted something similar. To achieve a completely new look, we first cut off the eaves and added a standing seam metal roof with hidden gutters. We replaced all of the windows with black painted aluminum windows organized into bands and created a new entry lobby with full height black aluminum doors and windows at the ground floor. Over the entry we created an Alucobond-clad L-shaped canopy. At the exterior of the bedroom area, we created a cedar-clad projecting box bay while trimming out most of the other windows with black painted aluminum fins. To create a vertical accent, we added a powerful chimney element clad in stacked gray-veined oolitic limestone cut into distinctly horizontal proportions.
